Norman Shamaly
1939-2021

Norman Shamaly passed away peacefully on December 21st at the age of 82. He was in the comfort of his home in Redondo Beach.

Norman was born in Port Huron, Michigan to John and Elizabeth Shamaly. Norman graduated from St. Stephens High School in 1957 where he excelled in football and basketball. After high school he joined the Air Force and continued to play football for his respective base. Throughout his travels Norman discovered the South Bay and knew it was the place he wanted to settle. After Norman fulfilled his duty for the Air Force he went back home to Port Huron to work for the family business. Soon after, he met Jeanine Klettner, they began dating and later decided to move to Redondo Beach. They were married in September 1967 surrounded by friends and family. They had two boys Steven and Jason who were raised in the family home they owned for close to 50 years.

Norman spent the majority of his career in sales for Hermetic Seal Corporation in Rosemead, California. When Norman wasn't working he was an avid fan of all sports. From coaching his son's local recreation teams, attending Mira Costa Football games, to rooting on his Detroit Redwings, Tigers, Pistons and Lions. He was known to his kids and others as a walking sports encyclopedia. During retirement Norman kept busy exercising at the Redondo Beach Bay Club and spending time with his grandkids. Whether he was playing in the pool or watching them for the evening, he very much enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

Norman is survived by his two sons, Steven and Jason Shamaly, sister Yvonne Church, and five grandkids, Ryan, Jacob, Megan, Sienna, and Charlie. He was preceded in death by Jeanine (wife of 53 years) parents John and Elizabeth Shamaly and brother, Maurice Shamaly.

A memorial to celebrate Norman's life will be held: Friday January 21, 2022 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm with a reception following until 7:00pm. Lighthouse Memorials and Receptions Rice Center, 5310 Torrance Blvd, CA 90503.
