Marilyn Sue Quinlan
Marilyn Sue Quinlan of Hermosa Beach, age 85, passed away on October 12, 2021.
Born in Norman, Oklahoma on April 17, 1936, Marilyn moved with her family to Redondo Beach, California in 1941 then to Hermosa Beach in 1946 to the home she lived in for most of her life until her passing.
A lifelong South Bay resident, Marilyn attended Beryl Heights Elementary in 1941 then Pier Avenue School in 1946. Marilyn was a member of the first class to attend Mira Costa High School when it opened in 1950.
Marilyn worked in the restaurant business and then the cutting tool business for most of her life. Marilyn was a hard worker but her work life never defined her. Marilyn's heart and passion were always with her family. Marilyn was known for her warm and gentle nature, quiet integrity, and her open loving heart. Marilyn was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a beloved adopted grandmother to countless families in her community. Marilyn was a woman of faith who practiced her beliefs with her every action. She was an easy laugher with a positive attitude who was always up for a supportive chat or a game of cards.
Marilyn is survived by her brother Ronald Morgan (Patsy), her daughter Raechelle Colleen Quinlan Downs (Tom), her grandchildren Andrew Downs (Luna), Rachel Downs, Leonard Lawson Jr., Robbie Lawson and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents Jewel and Samuel Everett
Morgan, her brother Donald Morgan, her son Leonard Lawson (Cindy), her partner Ed Deringer, and her former spouses Stan Quinlan and Dean Lawson.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 5th from 11:00am-2:00pm at the Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Hall at 2515 Valley Dr, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal rescue group or veteran's association.
