Lynda Newkirk Flory
July 30, 1940 – January 24, 2021

Lynda Newkirk Flory passed away January 24, of a heart attack at her home in Manhattan Beach where she lived for 40 years, she was 80.

Lynda was born in Inglewood, California to Harold Newkirk and May Hudspeth and has a younger sister, Gloria Hunter.

Lynda graduated from Washington High School in Los Angeles, California in 1959. Graduated from UCLA in business management 1966. She worked in many professional positions from senior business administrator to data analysis, at McCulloch Corp., ITT Gilfillan Corp., and worked at TRW Systems Group for 25 years until she retired

Lynda met her husband Jerry Flory when they both worked at McCulloch Corp. They were married for 56 years and had two children; D.J. Flory and Crystal Flory Biller. They have three grandkids, D.J. has two daughters, Rachel and Amber, Crystal has one son, Blake. Lynda was devoted to her kids and grandkids.

Lynda was a true volunteer; she and her husband were involved in Little League Baseball & Softball as Administrators educating 10 Little League programs in District 37 for over 40 years. She was a member of two different Little Leagues, Hawthorne American and Jim Thorpe Little League and was President five different times. One of her biggest fundraisers for Little League was running a July 4th fireworks stand for eight days from 10am to 10pm to help kids. She had two ladies that always helped her, Rachel and Diana, for over 25 years. She also volunteered and was a member of Lady Red Hat Club, and the Las Vicuñas Club, American Heart Association Division Vice Chairman, served on the Manhattan Beach Coordinating Council, she ran the Manhattan Beach polling both for national and local elections for over 20 years. All her volunteer time to help others and kids.

In the 80's she ran for the South Bay Union High Schools Board that oversaw Mira Costa High School and Redondo Beach High School, she was elected two terms and served as President.

One of the biggest dramas of Lyn & Jerry's life was when Crystal, their daughter, was born premature and weighed one pound. They went to the hospital for over two months praying she would survive and with God's will she is living a happy life.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Jerry Flory along with daughter Crystal Flory Biller, son D.J. Flory, Lynda's sister Gloria Hunter, her three grandkids Rachel Flory, Amber Flory, Blake Biller, son in law Josh Biller and daughter in law Sharon Flory.

A celebration of her life will be held July 17th at 11:00 am, location: Torrance First Baptist Church, 2118 W. Carson St. Torrance Ca. 90501
