DONNA MOODY
Donna Moody
On New Year's Day, Donna Moody, age 86, after a brief battle with
cancer, passed away peacefully at home with her family surrounding her.
Donna grew up in Redondo Beach, graduating from Redondo Union High School and attending UCLA after a scholarship from local philanthropy, Sandpipers, made
college financially feasible.
Moving to Rolling Hills Estates in 1967, Donna focused her energy on being a wife and homemaker, raising her three sons. Later, when her youngest son was entering high school, Donna got her real estate license and began a long and successful career selling homes in and around the Palos Verdes Peninsula. She loved her career and her clients, continuing to sell homes all the way into 2020.
Following the example set by her mother, Anna Corsaro, Donna gave her free time to volunteering in the community. She joined Sandpipers in 1969, paying forward on the college opportunity that the organization had given to her. She also ran the snack bar for her sons' baseball and soccer leagues. And she later joined the Peninsula Committee (PCCH) which organizes the annual Portuguese Bend National Horse Show and the Sea Horse Classic golf tournament to raise funds for Children's Hospital LA. Donna held several leadership positions with PCCH including Treasurer and President. Having been a patient at CHLA as a child, Donna took great satisfaction in helping to raise funds for this important institution.
Donna will be remembered for her generosity with her time, her resources, her friendship and her love. She was an amazing cook and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining. She entertained large groups and always found herself saying "it's just a casual dinner" or "I just threw this together" despite that not being the case most of the time.
She had the special gift of making everyone she encountered feel welcome, giving from her heart with an abundance of kindness and without hesitation. She did all of this with a smile and a great sense of humor.
Donna is survived by her husband, Keith, her three sons, John, Michael, and Brian, their wives and six grandchildren.
If you would like to make a donation in Donna's memory, her two favorite philanthropies remain Sandpipers (Sandpipers.org) and the Peninsula Committee Children's Hospital (pcch.net).
