Mickey Roughen Obituary
As a lifelong Manhattan Beach resident, Mickey spent much of his youth barefoot in the summer months- swimming, rowing, jumping off the Manhattan Beach pier, or fishing off the old steamer boat floating to Catalina.

Mickey never ventured very far from Manhattan Beach, yet he did so to go to college at San Diego State University. After graduating with a B.S. in Engineering, he went to work at Rockwell where he spent a few years working on the prototype for the B-1. When that program was canceled in 1976, Mickey quickly changed course and found himself in the Real Estate offices of Narramore and Associates where he began a 40-year Real Estate career. It was there where he made many friendships which lasted throughout his lifetime.

Real Estate became a vehicle for his love of architectural design and engineering precision where after a few years in the business, he began to develop single-family homes, townhomes, and apartment buildings from the beach cities to West Los Angeles.

Mickey would call any achievements he had in his life as "luck," but those who knew him and worked with him would say it was not only his business acumen, but also his positivity and unique sense of humor that led to his success. Mickey had an easeful charm about him. He made people feel comfortable with his ability to relate. Whether he was having a conversation with a friend, client, or co-worker Mickey was the best at giving advice or telling one of his jokes or stories leaving those he encountered with a smile on their face.

His children stayed close by and his favorite sounds were those of his grandchildren laughing and playing on the walk-street where he lived, in the city he loved, with the sunset as the backdrop. He was a man who truly started everyday with gratitude.

Mickey is survived by his wife Teri, sisters Judy and Susan, children Kevin and Katie, stepdaughter Jen, and grandchildren Lucas, Rowen, Ellie, Grace, and Owen.

A memorial mass will be held at American Martyrs Church on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 2:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to would be wonderfully welcomed.
