Ernest Eric Hokenson Obituary
Born in Providence, RI, Ernie came to California in 1968 and has been a resident of Redondo Beach for 30 years. He loved the beach life, playing golf, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had a passion for painting and traveling the world with his loving partner of 40 years, Delores.

Working as a mortgage loan officer and in sales allowed him time to pursue his incredible talent as an artist. At age 12 he won a full scholarship from Rhode Island School of Design to study art at the University of Bologna, Italy. He later moved to New York City and studied under artist George Guisti. He was formerly on the Board of Directors of the Buenaventura Art Association and for the past two years participated in the Steamboat Springs Art Museum's PleinAir art competition in Colorado.

Ernie is survived by his partner in life Delores Gilmore, son Christian Hokenson (Heidi) and daughter Erika Anderson (Scott). He adored his grandchildren, Bailey, Graison, Bluzette, and Atreyu Anderson and step-grandchildren, Paige and Kayla Gilmore, Sean (Haley) and Joshua (Deanna) Berger and great-grandson, Braidyn and his sisters and brother, Karen Davis, Joan Swienski, Sister Ruth (Shirley Hokenson), Kenneth Hokenson and former spouse, Patricia.

Predeceased by stepson, Russell Gilmore and parents Ruth and Ernest Hokenson, brother Robert, sisters Jane and Janice.

Ernie died after a ten-month battle with cancer. He loved his family and friends and he will be deeply missed. Donations to or City of Hope, please.

Memorial service at Pacific Crest Cemetery, Redondo Beach, CA, Saturday August 10, 2019.
