Elizabeth "Betty" Carpenter, 94, of Manhattan Beach, died Monday, June 17, 2019 at 10:35 in the morning. She died comfortably and peacefully in her bed at home in Manhattan Beach, California. Betty was born December 31, 1924 in Hermosa Beach, California to Louis Arthur Mueller and Elizabeth Laura Diedrich. Her mother remarried and she was adopted by her stepfather Julian A. Rohr. She had one older brother, Louis Arthur Rohr.

She was married on October 15, 1949 and divorced on February 29, 1968. Betty gave birth to her first son, Ted Lewis Carpenter on February 10, 1958 in Torrance, California. Unfortunately, Ted passed away February 11, 1958. Her second son Brian John Carpenter was born on February 18, 1960 in Torrance, California. Betty also had one grandson, Ryan Carpenter born on June 17, 1991 in Torrance, California.

Betty attended Redondo Union High School and earned her high school diploma. From 1966 to 1987 Betty worked as a top level secretary for the Hughes Aircraft Company.

In her free time Betty enjoyed spending time in her yard planting flowers and pulling weeds. She belonged to a number of local gardening clubs including the Begonia Society. Everyone that knew Betty will always remember her hazel eyes, sweat suit outfits and sassy attitude. We were lucky to have had her in our lives and she will be missed.
