David R. Nicholson passed away peacefully on March 30, 2020, at home in Redondo Beach, after a
courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Philadelphia, PA. He was the third of four children of Richard and Marion Nicholson.
After graduating high school, he enjoyed a once in a lifetime cross-country solo motorcycle ride
to California and experienced a rarity- scenic Pikes Peak with no one else on the road. During his 70 years on earth, he built his own version of the American Dream. In his own words, he lived a full life and did things his way.
David leaves behind a legacy of integrity, grit, courage, and steadfastness. He took great care of his friends and family, carried himself as a dignified gentleman, and was a class act to all that met him. He was a man set in his scrupulous ways, but his heart was set on his family and will be missed by all.
After 30 years of loyal and dedicated work for Southern California Edison Co., he retired without ever missing a day.
During his final hours, he was anointed with oil and covered with powerful prayer. These were the most peaceful hours of his life.
He is survived by his children Sarah Nicholson, Dianna (Daniel) Fennessy, four grandchildren; Jacob M., Jordan M., Destiny S., & Lillian Fennessy, his sisters Nancy McCutcheon, Patricia "Tricia" (John) Groves, Margaret "Ka'imi" Nicholson, two nieces and nephew, and his partner Ms. Carnes.
A memorial service will be held at a later time. Please visit www.occem.org for Holy Sepulcher in Orange, CA for more details in the weeks to come.
