Bud Delight made his transition into spirit on July 2nd, 2020. He passed at home, surrounded by his family. Bud was a builder: "Born to Build: No Plan B" was the title he gave to his business history file. He built a strong and happy marriage. He built a loving network of family and friends. He designed and built his family's California Craftsman home,
and as a carpenter and general contractor, he built hundreds of houses and buildings all over the South Bay. According to the Carpenter's Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, Bud Delight was a "builder who builds men."
Bud was born in 1938. Like his father, Bud was born and raised in the South Bay of Los Angeles county. His father was a commercial fisherman, working out of the Redondo harbor, and Bud often told stories of his adventures on his dad's boat, the Fujisan. He attended Pier Avenue School, Redondo Union High School, and El Camino College. As a teen, Bud spent a few summers working on a ranch in Torrance and used the money he earned to buy and care for his horse Pam. Back then-when there were more sand dunes than houses- he used to ride bareback on the beach.
Bud married the love of his life in 1958. Together they built a thriving business and a joyous life filled with love and adventures. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in August of 2019. Bud and his wife had 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 8 (and counting) great-grandchildren.
Bud built relationships with individuals of all ages. Many of the younger people in his life came to call him "the guru" because he had an uncanny ability to give sage advice about how to live life with impeccable integrity and stay true to chosen values. As people honor and remember Bud, many have shared that he had a profound
influence on their personal growth and development.
Bud Delight was, and still is, a brilliant light in the Universe. His passing has
left a huge hole, but his spirit will forever shine in the hearts of those who knew
and loved him. A celebration of his time on Earth will be held on July 2nd, 2021 in Manhattan Beach, California.
