Ronald Riggs Adams Obituary
Ronald Riggs Adams, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2018 in his home, surrounded by family and friends, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 70.

Ron was born on June 11, 1948 and raised in Memphis, TN. He was the second of four children born to Tommye Adams, currently of Columbia, TN, and the late Floyd Adams. He graduated from the University of Tennessee, where he majored in business. He met his wife, Ellen, shortly after on a blind date. They settled in Manhattan Beach, CA and Ron set up shop as an independent broker in the ethnic hair care industry. He went on to pioneer and build many brands with an acute business savvy and an unwavering work ethic.

He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, neighbor, friend and colleague. Ron taught his children kindness and generosity and supported them always. He approached everything in life with a sense of ease and quiet confidence. He enjoyed golf, traveling, watching the Lakers, cracking one-liners, reading, working, friends and good food and wine. Ron loved to travel with Ellen, especially if it included a Mai Tai on a lanai in Hawaii. He also explored the world with his golf buddies, always chasing the next hole in one. He loved spending time with his grandkids: cuddling with them, watching them play sports, taking them to the driving range, having them over for regular sleepovers, making them laugh. He will be forever missed.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ellen, his children Scott (Caitlin) of Los Angeles, CA and Kim (Chad Lagerwey) of Manhattan Beach, CA and four grandchildren: Owen Walter, Cade Riggs, Wyatt Edward, and Indigo Quinn.

Ron is also survived by his eldest sister Floy Polen of Myrtle Beach, SC, his younger sister Patricia (Sam Horsley) of McDonough, GA and his younger brother Jeff (Tina) of Columbia, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in memory of Ron to St Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) or Torrance Memorial Hospice (torrancememorial.org) 23326 Hawthorne Blvd, Suite 100B, Torrance CA 90505.

Ron's family would like to thank those who helped him with his cancer fight through his final months, especially the staff of Torrance Memorial Hospital, the California Hematology Oncology Medical Group and Torrance Memorial Hospice.

The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 29th at 2:00 p.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach, California.
