Richard Wagner Obituary
June 1925 – November 2016

Richard Wagner passed away peacefully in the early afternoon of November 6 with his loving wife Madge at his side.
Richard was born in St. Paul Minnesota to Richard and Mildred Wagner. Before graduating high school he enrolled in the Signal Corp for electronics training. He was drafted into the Navy and received additional training at Oklahoma A&M. It was there in Stillwater OK that he met and eventually married his first wife, Vera Jo. He was stationed in the Pacific on the USS Dionysus until the war's end.
Upon discharge from the Navy, Richard returned to Oklahoma A&M, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. After working in the Chicago and Ft Wayne areas, he received a job offer from Hughes Aircraft in California, where he worked until his retirement in 1982. The family lived in Inglewood, then Hermosa Beach, Playa del Rey, and finally settled in Manhattan Beach in 1960.
After retiring from Hughes, he became an Enrolled Agent of the IRS and worked as a tax preparer at M&M Tax, which he and Jo owned and managed.
Richard married Madge in 1992, and eventually moved to North County San Diego where they lived in peaceful semi-retirement. He continued to prepare tax returns and offer tax advice until this year.
Richard was a skilled woodworker and built much of the furniture in his Manhattan Beach home. He also loved to travel across the country in a succession of 5th wheel trailers and motor coaches.
Richard is survived by his youngest sister Susie, his wife Madge, his middle son Ross, and youngest son Ron. Sadly, his oldest son Rick passed away 2 years prior. He is also survived by his grandchildren Even (Rick); Carrie, Wendy and Ryan (Ross); and Samuel (Ron); and 6 great grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned in Vista, CA on Sunday, November 27th.
Please contact Ross at 760-803-7725; ross.wagner@roadrunner.com; or
