Raymond L. Winters

Raymond L. Winters, an attorney and longtime Palos Verdes resident, died on January 2, 2018. He was 88.

A native of Bakersfield, California, Mr. Winters graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a degree in business administration, in 1951, and three years later, became one of the first graduates of the University of California, Los Angeles Law School. He then served in the U.S. Army as a corporal in the Counter-Intelligence Division.

Mr. Winters then opened a law practice in Redondo Beach, and was named deputy city attorney in Redondo Beach in 1961. In recent years, Mr. Winters specialized in wills and estates and maintained an office on Pacific Coast Highway in Redondo Beach.

Mr. Winters also was an avid fisherman and could often be seen fishing for corbina off the coast of Rat Beach in Torrance. He also was an amateur painter, specializing in cityscapes and landscapes representing his travels throughout the United States and Europe.

Mr. Winters is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret D. (Lynn) Winters of Palos Verdes Estates; his daughter, Karla R. Winters, of Palos Verdes Estates and Washington, DC; his daughter, Lynn Winters of Palos Verdes Estates; and his son, Larry Winters, of Dana Point, California; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
