Gay Malpede Obituary
Gay Malpede
August 24, 1943 – May 18, 2018
Gay Rene was born in Greenwich, Connecticut. Once her father was discharged from the Navy Gay, her younger sister Jill, and her mother moved across the country to relocate to southern California. After attending college in the Bay Area, she moved back to Southern California and stayed there for the rest of her life. In the summer of 1968, she met Jim Malpede at the beach; they were married that fall. She held numerous jobs during her life: teacher, bookkeeper, and fiscal analyst for El Camino College; the latter position she held for sixteen years until she retired.
Her favorite job was taking care of her family, human and canine alike. She dedicated her life to raising her children. While her daughters attended American Martyrs, she was actively involved in the school and the church. When her husband's health faltered due to heart failure, she was always the one to care for him. While she did not get paid for this occupation, it was her life's calling and it made a lasting impression on those around her.
After a short illness, Gay died one month after Jim. She spent her final days surrounded by family, friends, and her dog Josie. She is survived by her daughters, Jamie (husband Dave Seeley) and Mandy (husband Zack Mason), and two grandchildren, Brody and Maddy Mason.
